The actual MP3 format is ancient in terms of electronic audio formats. The only thing it still has going for it is that it's the only truly universal format for portable digital audio players. Most serious "MP3 players" have some other more advanced format available as an option, like AAC (iPod) or Microsoft's WMA (Creative). MP3 is definitely right out, but I personally prefer AAC to every other mid-grade format, and I don't use any so-called lossless format because they're too taxing on both storage space and battery life.

I think ipods are overrated. You just need something to listen to music with. I think you should keep it simple with an mp3 player. A small practical one that you can buy a memory card for so you can put more songs. I don't know but I prefer the regular mp3.

IPODs have the drawback of syncing with your computer in a way that doesn't allow you to use it as a second hard drive (if you remove a song from your computer that's on your IPOD, then the next time you connect your IPOD to charge it through the computer, it will remove the song from the IPOD also). MP3 players are more generic and don't have this liability. The downside is that there aren't as many accessories for them.

ipods because they have games and you can see the screen better and also they can hold a lot more songs. But you have to buy the thing to get the radio whereas mp3 players have the radio built in.Well some of them but it depends on what you like.

hmm...
hmm...
The Ipod lacks a radio and sound recorder....
but then again... it is really slim and has games and cool features... and is very popular..

but...
well it all depends on the MP3. You can get a better MP3 player then some Ipods.

If your talkin a crappy mp3, then no...
but a nice one... well too many variables to say, but altogether i would have to say the Ipod. :)

MP3. I don't want to have to keep hooking up with whatever authority tells me I can keep my music.

I use a Creative Labs Muvo for listening to music. Just plugs in though the usb port and import my music.

IPOD and ITUNES makes it easy, I tried rhapsody and just wasn't as impressed with the ease of use and flipping songs to playlists etc. I don't have hours to screw around with that kind of stuff (unlike this board, ha ha!) when I want to download a song or two I just want to do it quick, before work etc.

My Creative Zen Vision M 30GB is awesome. It has radio, voice recorder, video , zencasts, music, tv, picture slide show. Almost everything except games like solitaire. But honestly I would rather have the radio then a game of solitaire anyway.
