I have not, but I work in the medical field and have researched it quite extensively. I would recommend you check out this web site
http://www.hyperemesis.org/
- recent studies are showing that if you are needed to be admitted into the hospital for nutrition intervention, the nasogastric tube feedings are safer and more effective than the standard practice of total Parental nutrition. I would recommend trying small frequent meals, start with a cracker or two waiting 2hrs if no vomiting than try some other bland foods like, mashed potatoes and bread. it is important to stay hydrated, sip fluids between eating, not during. I hope this helps. Good luck!

How many times have you been pregnant?

I was really sick with all three (currently in second tri of third) but my third wasn't as bad. In fact, I didn't throw up much this time.

For my second I had to be hospitalized for dehydration. My doctor gave me some mediation to help but it just put me to sleep. I couldn't stay awake long enough to eat or drink. I was feeling better before we could try the 'other' medication so I don't know how that one would have worked.

Anyway, I ask how many times you've been pregnant because my doctor said she has noticed a trend in her patients. She said the third pregnancy doesn't seem to be as bad as the first two ... but she mentioned that that is ONLY a personal observation.

I have a friend and neighbor who did. My neighbor was admitted into the hospital and received an IV. The doctors were more concerned about her than the baby.

My friend just got really skinny. Both got suppositories that were suppose to take the vomiting right away.

Both had very healthy baby boys.

With hyperemesis gravidarum, they usually try to treat you in the hospital first to correct the dehydration, but I know of several people that were actually sent home with IV ports because they stayed so severely dehydrated.
