It took me awhile before my stomach got hard. I would say around 5 months before I noticed it getting hard.

I have to say that every pregnancy is different because you may see and feel a hard stomach at 3 months with one pregnancy and the other may be 4 or 5 months along.

It depends on your size really. I am slightly overweight, I was 160 pounds when I got pregnant, and I am now 28 weeks pregnant. I am definately showing, but my stomach still is not 'rock' hard. My lower abdomen was a little hard earlier on, and now it is softer and my upper abdomen is hard (I believe this is because the baby moves from low to high to low again). When I lay down my stomach is much harder, and at certain times in the day it seems harder than others (like after I eat, or while he is moving a lot). So really, I would say it just depends on your build and maybe a couple other factors.

Before ultrasounds and doppler studies it used to be rule of thumb that when you could feel a firm fundus (thats the top part of the uterus) at the belly button you could safely say you were feeling a 20 week pregnant belly. Im a nurse and that was old school predicting dates of delivery and gestational length of pregnancy. I hope it helped. To formulate your due date take the first day of your last period, add seven days and subtract three months. Thats another old fashioned form of predicting the future.. lol

It depends on how big you are before you get pregnant, since it depends on how much room your uterus has to expand. I was about 110 when I got pregnant and with both of my pregnancies I was about 15 weeks when it started getting bigger.
