When it is used with discretion. It was said that absolute power corrupts absolutely. When one uses power to protect the weak, it brings out the best in the user. When one uses power to hurt the weak or widow or orphan, it is the worst use of power. Use of power to take advantage of another is a poor use of power. Use of power for self-defense is an appropriate use of power. If one adheres to a biblical moral compass, the use of power will generally bring out the best in in the user. If you do not have a God-oriented moral compass, "the best" is only what is best in the eyes of the person making the determination. That would seldom be good. Everyone does what is right in their own eyes.

Power NEVER brings out the best in us. The old phrase is,

"Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely"

Another phrase which might be pertinent: "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions". In other words, some of the biggest crimes and mistakes in the history of man were started because it seemed like a GREAT idea at the time, but was soon corrupted and used to destroy rather than create.

Those in power usually let it go to their heads.
It rarely brings out the best in a person.
Too bad, isn't it?

Power corrupts.

You can use power to achieve good results, but power itself tends to make one crazy and drunk with lust for more power.

Didn't you watch the Lord of the Rings? That ring, man, the One Ring. It messed up everybody who put it on. That's what power does.
