1. The correct ratio is the one that gives the compound an overall charge of zero.
2. Sodium and calcium are both metals and therefore do not bond to one another.
3. Copper has more that one oxidation state (+1 and +2). To correctly name the compound you must state which oxidation state is used.
4. It depends on the charge of the anions. Al has a +3 charge. If the anions are -1 each then it would require 3.
5. Ionic compounds are named with the name of the metal first followed by the name of the nonmetal second with the ending changed to -ide. In the formula the symbols are in the same order (metal then nonmetal) with subscripts indicating the ratio needed to give the compound an overall charge of zero.
