another option is to lift the seat prior to getting drunk and keeping the lights on.
That works for me at least.

haha no I would tell mine the same thing. If he loses his aim when he's drunk, make him sit down. He can lean against the wall/stall then and it will help balance him while he attempts to pee in the toliet. Just watch that he doesn't pee on himself/his pants while sitting down, as that would be much worse, especially in public!

I think missing may be a common thing, we used to have a two drink and you clean it immediately up or sit rule.
I Think effectively trained a man to sit and pee.
