I decided to start taking ovulation tests as soon as I went off the pill, and about 25 days ago, the test indicated that I was ovulating. Problem is, since then, I have not gotten my period, and I have taken several pregnancy test, all of which have turned up negative. My last period was over 65 days ago, which is pretty typical for me. There is family history of irregularity, but not of infertility, but my doctor had never heard of anyone not getting their period after ovulating. She suggested that the ovulation test may have been incorrect, but I took 2 tests from 2 different brands and they both disaplayed a clear positive. I have only been trying to get pregnant for a little under 3 months, and I am under 30, but my irregularity is making me very anxious. My doctor has already mentioned clomid as something to think about, but I don't want to take the chance of having twins unless I absolutely must. Any advice???

You don't need to spend money on ovulation kits to see when you are ovulatig; your body will tell you for free.

Take your temperature evry morning when you wake up. It will rise when you ovulate (12-16 days before your next period) and will stay higher until your next period. Once released your egg remains viable for fertilisation for just 12-24 hours. Also keep an eye on your mucus, it will become stretchy like egg white as you approach ovulation. Sperm can surivie for up to 5 days in this most fertile mucus.

When trying to concieve it is recommended that you have intercourse every other day during the week before you ovulate and then for a day or two after. The rest of the time you are naturally infertile.

By using this method of charting your cycles your cycle irregularity is not a problem; you should remember that the 28 day cycle is only an average and is exerienced by relatively few women. Depending on how long ago you came off the pill, and how long you were taking ti for, your body may still be 'recovering' from its effects.

In the UK there is a charity called LIFE which runs a highly sucessful fertility programme that I think you should check out. Also if you want to learn more about charting and identifying your fertile time the Couple to Couple League have a great home study course which I can highly recommend.

Finally, make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins and try not to worry as stress can dela ovulation.

I had the same problem as you. Clomid didn't help much at all. I bought the clearbluse easy fertility monitor and the first month of using it I conceived. I'm now 12 weeks along. My doc also gave me Metformin it helped my cycle become regular. There is a condition that you might want to look in to it is called PCOS poly cystic ovarian syndrome which suppresses your metabolism which suppresses your estrogen production which makes your cycle unstable You may want to consider a different doctor if you feel that your views are going unheard. Good luck

I suffered with irregular periods as well. What helped me was an herbal supplement called Vitex. I purchased it from an herbal / vitamin store in my area. So far, it has worked wonders. I have been getting my period every month since taking Vitex. I am also ttc. My doctor prescribed clomid for me as well, but I didn't bother to get the perscription filled. Good Luck.

Once infertility has been diagnosed, there are a number of treatment options available depending on the root cause of the problem. Learn here https://tr.im/dQA54

Infertility is a condition defined as not being able to become pregnant after at least one year of unprotected, regular, well-timed intercourse. Women who suffer from multiple miscarriages may also be diagnosed as infertile. Infertility may be classified into two groups, primary and secondary infertility.

my period was very irregular before i had my son and it took my husband and i 2 years to get pregnant but i don't ovulate that often but i was told while trying for a baby have sex every other day to increase your chances it worked for us. now after i have had my son my periods are regular as clock work, but while you are trying just relax and enjoy yourself don't think of it as a thing you have to do just enjoy every minute of it because when that baby comes you don't get the chance that often
