The current record stands at eight minutes, 58 seconds, but freedivers have held their breath for up to 15 minutes by breathing in pure oxygen prior to the dive.

Personally I can manage about a minute and a half so i dont think i will be breaking the record any time soon.

I can hold my breath for about 2 minutes! I'm pretty proud of that but i suppose it depends on your lung capacity.

1 minute 10 seconds! woo actually it is pretty hard to count and hold yuor breath at the same time...or is that just me?

One min without swimming. And I can swim 50 yards without breathing.

My son and I had a contest last summer in our pool -- he did 2 min. 20 secs., I did 4 min. 9 secs.

When I was a teenager I once went over 5 minutes, but it was really, really hard!

If I hyperventilate first, I can hold it for 3 minutes or more
