I lost my holiday paid because my new card did't work. In order to get paid holiday paid you have to be on time to work day before and the day after on time not a minutes late. We got new cards the week before the holiday so the day after the holiday I got a flat and I call the company to let them know I might be late, fix the flat got to work on time at 6:00am, new card did't work when I swipe at 6 so I try again the clock roll over 6:01 and it made me late, I told my supervior and I did't get paid for thanksgiving and the day after, we get two day off. they say I went threw the gate at 6:02 that not right that time off because how is that if I clock in at 6:01 they say I could'nt have made it so me and the union fighting the matter, we had one meeting and they still said no so the union going to third step to try again to get my money. Don't think it fair because their new card did't work. If the next step don't work ,that it don't know what else to do?

That's absolutely rediculous that your company didn't pay you! Honestly, they should be ashamed of themselves. What kind of company is it that 1 minute or even two should make ANY difference. IDIOTS!
You do not deserve to be treated like this. I would write a letter to the owner of the company and explain what happened. Then I would begin looking for a job where they treat their employees fairly and respectfully.

I feel for you; however, it is expected that employees arrive PRIOR to the start of their shift and be prepared to work at the beginning of their scheduled shift, not report to work at that time. As another person stated, the employer should be ashamed of themselves for doing so but they are well within their rights. I would advise trying to come to some kind of arrangement and if this is not acceptable, then consider seeking employment elsewhere but, be advised, your next job may be worse than the one you have now.

You should be at work at least 5 minutes early. Even if you pulled in to par at 6am, there is no way you could be at your desk and ready to work in 30 seconds...your company pays you to work, not hear excuses...you are NOT being treated unfairly

Unfortunately, that's why it's recommended to be a few minutes early. Sorry.

I would walk out of there and never go back.
