I am a biit worried as my obs told me after a CTG yesterday that there is only mild contractions or to say tightenings. How long must I wait. He had scheduled me for an elective C-section on this Wed if the baby does'nt comes naturally by this Mon. How do I make labour progress on its own? I don't want a c-sect if possible.. and how do I know if the contractions pain is really contractons and is not just tightening :(

My midwife stirred my membranes and told me to go home and have sex with my husband. This was two weeks before my baby was due. I was back to the hospital a few hours later to have my baby. Talk to your doctor about trying that.

Im wondering why they have scheduled you for a csection, instead of trying natural or even medical ways to progress the mild "tightenings" into contractions. That's the same thing with me... I am now 40 weeks and 6 days and Im in the same boat as you except they are bringing me in tomorrow to try an induction. Is that an option for you?

Talk to your Dr and tell him that you really would like to wait if there is no danger to you or the baby. They will normally let you go about 2 weeks past your due date. Everyone told me that having sex helps, even my dr said that, but it didn't work for me. And walking is suppose to really help. When you start having active contractions there is no mistaking them. Although that doesn't really mean anything either. I am at the end of my second pregnancy and I have been having contractions for the past week. Has your baby dropped yet? The contractions will push her down into your pelvis. Unfortunately no one can really tell you anything definite. Each pregnancy is so different and something work for some that don't work for others. I'm sorry that I couldn't give you more help. Just talk to your Dr and express your c-section concerns. That's whats really important.

I have heard that C-sections are very popular these days. Back when my kids were born you just waited until you went into labor. My first child was born three days past the due date. The best thing to do is wait. When you are really in labor, contractions will begin and keep going all on their own. Make sure you let your doctor know you don't want a C-section. After all, it's your body and your baby.

Having an OBGyn "strip the membranes" (they irritate the opening of the cervix, it is rather uncomfortable but it's a short process) often helps, as does intercourse. A friend was watching a comedy and laughed so hard her water broke, which immediately started labor. Walking (mild walking, mind you, nothing too crazy) also helps stimulate labor contractions, as does walking DURING labor. Even though your "due date" is Tuesday, I wouldn't worry about it. There still is no exact way to determine when the baby will show up. I always felt my doctor was wrong from the get-go about my daughter, and she was born two weeks "early", but it felt right to me! If your baby is a week "late", I promise it's okay. They will show up when they're good and ready, and no doctor's chart is going to boss them around!!

GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!!The methods of self-inducing labor.....Oregano and Basil have properties that may cause contractions, so eat something with that in it also, Semen contains is prostaglandins. Prostaglandins cause the cervix to "ripen", or soften and prepare to open and, the last one is that eggplant will start labor. This maternity myth started when a news story began circulating about a restaurant in Georgia named Scalini's,Apparently the mothers of over 300 babies have gone into labor in the past 23 years, within 48 hours of eating the eggplant parmigiana.

My wife was minimally dialated on a Tuesday and went into labor on Saturday. To help it along, try walking and/or sex (except if the amniotic sac is broken, then only walking). You can also ask the doctor to strip your membranes. That basically means the membranes holding the amniotic sac to the uterine wall will be, well... stripped. It's like peeling an orange.

Try walking, stairs or with one foot on the curb & the other in the gutter. Try raspberry leaf tea. Have lots of sex. Seriously! There is something in semen that can put you into labor! I have heard accupuncture & accupreasue work too. Take a warm bath & try to relax. Other people hear recommend black or blue cohosh or something but I don't know about that? But walk...walk, walk & walk some more!

Make sure you are ready, Hoover the whole house, then relax and have as hot as you can handle bath, make yourself a cup of Raspberry leaf tea. When you get out the bath rub in moisturizer and try gently stimulating your nipples(I've not done this one but I've herd it also works for some people) it's hard but just try to relax, it's always when we want something to happen that it doesn't.
Good luck xx

Sex helps also a hot Bath. Stay in the bath for a while, it stimulates the contractions. Also try to take a lot of chamomile tea. For some reason this helps as well.,
