some are subsidized and some are unsub. 5,000 aer in private loans. what is trax deductible? the interested accrued? how do i find out what this number is?

Have you paid any interest yet? You actually have to pay it, not just accrue it, to get a deduction. If you have paid interest, your lender will send you a 1098 showing the amount you paid. Put it on page 1 of your tax return, towards the bottom.

If you haven't paid any of the interest, you cannot deduct anything from the taxes. You should receive this information from the student loan company that you will have to submit along with your tax return.
