Any kind of test is a regular test
but
sometimes the blood/urine/mucus sample is kept in for a few hours/days in special environment to let the certain bacteria grow
The studies is than taken place on the growth.
This process of letting the bacteria growth is called culture (bacteria culture)
So it is the technical process, not for you to be concerned about
Never be scared of the test..
An ailment known is better than an unknown disease in the body, At least than we can cure it.
By the way all the best for your test

a throat culture is essentially a very long q-tip swabbed around briefly into the back of the throat and then placed into a tube that contains a setting medium and sent to a lab to determine if have amongst other things strep growing in your throat. Take a deep breath prior to the nurse or MA swabbing the back of your throat and you should be fine. It will not be shoved down your throat, it will be lightly rubbed across the back side area of your throat and take less than ten seconds if they know what they are doing.

No..its not that bad. All they do is take a q-tip with a really long wooden stick and swab the back of your tongue. They then rub the swab onto a gel called "Agar" that promotes the growing of bacteria/mold inside of a pertri-dish. The entire thing is painless though. The worst that can happen is that you have a gag reflex (you dont vomit though) Don't be scared. Getting a shot is worse than this procedure.

The will swab the back of your throat with something that looks like a long Q-tip. It doesn't hurt, but it might make you gag a little. Good luck!

A throat custom purely skill taking a pattern of the micro organism turning out to be on your throat- often contained in the area of your tonsils, or the position your tonsils must be. The time-honored practitioner makes use of a timber tongue depressor to press your tongue down out of his way, and a lengthy Q-tip to right now swab the decrease back of your throat. it is over and carried out with extraordinarily quickly, and thoroughly painless. you may gag a touch, if he triggers your gag reflex, yet it really is about all. not something receives shoved down your throat, the tongue depressor continues to be on your tongue and the swab is a immediately in shot to the rear and out back. i'm able to do one lots faster than it takes me to type this and also you to even study it. Afterwards, the swab is going right into a tube with a turning out to be medium and rancid to the lab, the position it receives smeared on a plate. The plate is going into an incubator, and 24 hours later a technician will supply it a glance to be certain what's turning out to be. they're going to look back after 40 8 and seventy 2 hours, stumble on in spite of micro organism or virus is turning out to be, and deliver the document decrease back to the overall practitioner. He then makes a decision what's substantial to take care of you and make you sense better. None of that's a huge deal. As tests flow, throat cultures are the finest, that's worse and contain blood and needles. that can make the q-tip look genuine solid.

They just stick a long q-tip in your mouth and poke your throat/ tonsils. Generally 1 or 2 pokes will do it....you might gag..I've gagged.... no big deal- it's quick.
Yhey'll do tests in the lab to see waht bacteria grows from the little bit of stuff they got off your throat, then they know if you need antibiotics or not.

They use a Q-tip to swab that back of your throat. It's quick and doesn't hurt, but you might gag for a second.
It's important to know whether or not you have strep, because untreated strep can cause heart damage or kidney failure.
A throat culture hurts a LOT less than heart failure or kidney dialysis.

I'm a nurse. No it's not bad at all, it feels like a tickle in your throat for a few seconds and it's over. I would let the nurse know how you feel so she can go really fast for you. Take care and breathe you will be OK.
