I am all for it.. I suffer severe pain often and the docs won't even give me pain meds.. If I had bone cancer or something like that the pain would NEVER go away, I would want to be able to die.. It's called dieing with dignity.. If a person is in an irreversible coma and no chance of getting better, it's better to let them go with dignity..rather than keep them hooked up to tubes, machines. It's kind of a interesting topic but most people are against it.. They think God is the only one who has the right to take a life... I don't agree 100% with that...I think suicide is o.k. and so is euthenasia... people in severe pain of any kind should have the right to decide when how and where they die.

I will give you my feelings about it.

I believe if the patient is terminal, if they can make the decision on their own, etc. If there is nothing more that can be done for the patient and they are in severe pain, it should be permitted. There should be proper documentation and permission from a family member as well, preferably one who has medical power of attorney.

My mother died of cancer this past summer. She was in hospice care for 5 weeks. The first few weeks her pain was controlled well. But the last few days were excruciating for her. She was in so much pain she couldn't stand it and nothing helped, she could barely speak but she did beg for help. Imagine knowing your loved one is in unspeakable pain, nothing can be done to extend her life, they can't give her anymore pain medication because it could be lethal. Now imagine them looking into your eyes and begging for help. It was horrific.

Abortion and euthanasia are completely different, I can't believe a participant could even compare the two.

Well, you might not want to get imformation from a 10 year old, but I did a research project on euthanasia in school. If you are looking for imformation go to regular Yahoo! and type in Betty Rollin. I am not sure if it is spelled with one L or two Ls but Yahoo! will correct you.

It's a very complicated issue, involving subjects such as social engineering, abortion, capital punishment and the distribution of scarce medical resources, to name only a few. Google Euthanasia, and go from there. Good luck.
