can anyone tell me if Permanent residents need a passport to visit mexico by plane?? we are going to cancun and my sister has her permanent resident card, does she still need a passport?

To travel to Mexico by PLANE it is now necessary to have a passport. If your friend does not have one, she should contact the consulate of her country well in advance to get one. She may need a visa to get into Mexico depending on her country of citizenship. Contact the Mexican Consulate to find out. Your travel agent should also have some good info for you.

If she is a a permanent resident, she can not apply for a passport. Passports are only available to U.S citizens ( Naturalized, or Birth ). But if she has a "green card" she may enter and exit the U.S. Also as of this year a passport will be required for any "Citizen" to reenter the states.

when entering the country, she needs it, she will have to show it..
