What is a famous author that wrote poetry?

Edgar Allen Poe, a famous American author (one of the first) wrote The Raven and it was first published in 1845. It starts as follows:
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

Lord Byron.
He was quite the scandal. Had an affair with his half-sister, I believe. Someone he was related to, and she described him as "Mad, bad, and dangerous to know."
They wouldn't bury him at Westminster Abbey because of that, but I think they later gave him an honorary grave.
Also his poetry at the time was a bit scandalous too.

Sir Walter Scott hasn't been pronounced yet--his contemporaries slammed him for "promoting out" and replacing genres to promote better books. i might want to guess that maximum writers create both poetry and prose--it is only a count number number of what receives revealed.
