Sadly, no, Lucas is not planning on making the sequel trilogy to Star Wars. There is a television show supposedly in the making, though I haven't heard anything about it in a while. Each episode costs around $1 million to create.

He says he won't then he says he will.
supershadow.com has his short story treatments for them if he decides to do them, but his most recent interview he said, the next trilogy will be up to his kids to make, the actors for Luke, Leia, Lando, Han, C-3PO, and Mace Windu all agreed already to be in the next trilogy in the future as long as they are still alive to do it. And yes, Mace Windu is written into episodes 7 - 9, because you never seen him land after he flew out of the window.

I believe Lucas said something along the lines of how he couldn't do them the proper justice.
Not only that, but I don't think he can get all of the original people, or something. Or he's out of ideas. Or something.
Eventually, he will make them, if only so he can make about a gazillion more dollars, because he needs more.

when he was filming the prequels he said he was. but after he filmed the third one, we decided that he wouldn't. but never trust lucas. hes a snake in the grass. he also said that he would never release the original theatrical release movies onto dvd, but he did in the winter of 2006. why? because the man is a money guzzling machine. if he wanted to, he could release movies 7-9 by filming 7 hours of canned footage from eyes wide shut and i'm sure he'd make a trillion more.
sorry... just very angry about episodes 1-3.

Does he actually need the ideas? Aren't the books already written?
I would like to see him make them. He's got a lot a creative juice left.
