how do flats work like to the carry on past the lines

You know the five lines in the music. well if there is a flat on one of them will it carry on when there are notes above the 6 lines

I would really like to help you, and can, but I can't understand the question.

"carry on past the lines" part gets me confused.

if teh line note is flatted or sharped at teh ebginning of the piece ( is on the lines before the music cleft) then ALL of those notes throughout the piece are sharp or falt. if there is sharp next to a note in teh body of the music then all of thsoe notes are sharp or flat in that measure of music unless they are naturalized, after each measure they must be re sharped to be played that way again

okay...well in that case...i understand what ur saying....yes it does still continue even if they're notes past the "five lines"...the only way it doesn't continue is if you see a natural sign(which means it's a regular note) a sharp (#) which means the note is raised a half step

a sharp is a semitone above the note selected, and a flat is a semitone below the note selected.

any note can be given a sharp or flat, which is why you sometimes see double sharps or double flats
