I mean $250 over 5 years? That's ridiculous. He couldn't even make that at Chelsea. Players in Europe are nowhere near $50 million a year. Becks said he is not going for the money. Yea right, I know he's got plenty but it sure sounds nice to get paid $50 million a year. But to the actual question. How do the Galaxy finance that? I didn't think the whole MLS generates $50 million a year. I know they will make a lot through jersey sales and attendance, but that is a lot of money to make up.
And honestly, Beckham is not worth that much anymore. The only time he can help a team now is with freekicks.
Well, hopefully it will help the sport to get bigger over here.

Here is an American prospective on the Beckham signing by the MLS LA Galaxy:

The contract with the team itself is really only about $10 million per year or $50 million over the duration of the contract with the rest tied in with entertainment and marketing deals.

That being said, I wonder how the Galaxy ownership is going to cover that contract. I wonder if they know that soccer is NOT king in the US. They are way down on the food chain in the competition for the sports entertainment dollar. This is a bold move by the Galaxy / MLS to bring in a name like Beckham to sell the sport and generate interest. The MLS finally have a face for the league.

Another speculation for the deal is that Beckham is trying to jockey himself for an acting career in Hollywood once his playing days are behind him.

No i experience he left on the right of his 4 12 months settlement with genuine Madrid, so Madrid were given not some aspect. Becks deal with Galaxy replaced into to placed across him in about $40m a 12 months over 5 years and this replaced into to contain his income, sponsorship contracts, blouse sales and a percentage of the club income.

The guy above me is right...The contract itself is only $9-$10m a year. A little bit more is endorsement and money for the negotiation which does not go to him.

The contract is also financed by Adidas...they have a deal to put their name and logo on the uniforms of LA Galaxy players.
