It will work if you can change the output settings. HD works in 480I 720 p and I and mostly 1080 p and I being the best quality. Most SD or standard definition tvs run in 480p if you can change that output yes. I have directvs HDDVR and there is a spot in the options menu to change that. But im not sure if you can with just the HD receiver. good luck.
