The best way to get a guy's attention is to be very sexually agressive toward him. Touch him, say something provocative and make sure you deliver when you two get alone.
Just some advice based on what I like to see in a girl.

Well, if he asks you out, it's not a rumor.
If he doesn't ask you out, it's a rumor or he's just shy.
You should ask your friends to drop hints that you might like him too. If he doesn't ask after that, you're SOL.

I think you meant for this to be on the "Touch Football" answer board...LOL!
When I was a teen I kept hearing about this girl that loved me but didn't want me to know...Dozens of people told me this...She always begged them not to tell me...She never told me either...It got to the point that people would say "I know someone who likes you"...I would stop them at that point and say "Is it ________"...They would look at me astonished and say "You already know that?"
The only secret was that she was the only one who didn't know I knew!!!...LOL...She never told me!
It was ok...She was nice and pretty but I loved and married another!
If lots of people are telling you this, they are either conspiring to fool you or he really does.
I am betting he really does like you!
I recommend you go talk to him...Try to see how he feels...If he sends loving signals, tell him you like him!
