person above had a good idea,if your kids use the instant messenger make sure it saves the chat history,a few other things you could do is somehow obtain their password and just spy on it :D to check for messages that was sent to them in private,or you could start up a myspace.com account yourself, and what you do is search for them, and favorite them so you can check there profile...

lol it sounds a little mean to spy on your own kids, but its allways good to be safe.

OK, I'm just going to say this once, and then answer your question: Have you considered educating your kids on the dangers of the internet?

About your question: yes, there is, although it would be polite to tell your kids first. Use a program that records key presses on the computer. http://home.rochester.rr.com/artcfox/TinyKL/ is a free one.

Run through the installation, and when you want to find out what has been done on the PC, open the 'log file' (you can choose where it goes during the installation of the program).

This is the only way to do it without them knowing, and it's not easy at all I'm afraid. However, Myspace.com is a public network, so you could also go there, sign up an account, and then add your children as 'friends' - then you can see what's going on as it's all 'in the open'.

Regarding IMs - this again depends on the software they use but you need to look for the feature to 'enable chat logging'. It's in MSN Messenger and some others. Again, they will know you're doing it: if you want to do it in secret, you will need to use that program I mentioned above.

Hope that helps you out :-)

As far as myspace be the parent and require your child to provide you with their username and password. My daughter has to can since it was a condition of using msypace it wasn't an issue. Until those were provided myspace was blocked on the computer. As far as monitoring AIM, you can purchase software like cybersafe which will log their IM usage and log their conversations (silently and in the background)
