He's dead, of course. But just in case you are one of those who thinks there is some sort of conspiracy going on--I have to admit that from day one I have never understood the rumors that he wasn't really dead. What possible advantage would there have been for him to pretend to be dead for all these years? Other conspiracy theories (concerning JFK's assassination, etc.) usually make at least shred of sense. This one never has.

Um, I'd hate to break this to you, but he died Aug. 16, 1977, at the age of 42. He's been dead ever since. How lucky for us that he lives on through the magic of recorded music and TNT movie marathons...
