Maybe you can see a counselor that specializes in children with disabilities.

I don't think the 5 month old hates his brother; at that age, he is incapable of knowing what love, hate, anger etc are. But he may be reacting to something in the older son that bothers him, that he can't understand. Maybe a movement, or something to that affect. With a brain defect, or downs syndrome, it is important that you discuss this with the doctor who is treating them. He will possibly have you talk to a developmental counselor, who can help you with each developmental step to know what is OK and what is a real problem. Good luck, as this can't be easy for you. Get all of the help you can...so that you don't become sick yourself. My prayers are with you.

That is rather odd that a 5 month old would have feelings of hate. I wouldn't worry about it. The more time they spend together they will love one another. Just help teach the older one how to love even when he feels hated. The baby may not feel security from the brother and thus showing emotions of fear not hate.
