Internet addiction can be a difficult habit o kick. You may want to try making a time limit for yourself. Say 1-2 hours per day to be used whenever you want. Then promise yourself that you will not surf anymore than your set amount until you have completed all the things you need to do (homework, classes, etc..). To take your mind off the Internet try studying somewhere away from your computer. Go to a local coffee house or the library. Not only can this aid you in staying off your computer, it can provide a nice change of scenery and opportunities to meet new people. I'm sure you'll figure something out. Remember though, you are paying for college and it is a waste of money if you are neglecting your studies!

Shut off the computer! I am sure many of your academics involve books, projects and other things like observation, civic work and group study. Limit your computer time, and use it as a self-reward to wind down.
I had a very difficult course load my entire time in didactic study, so when we had a particularly difficult class or test, I would allow myself 15-30 minutes for playing a mindless game or surfing. Then I would literally shut off the internet, walk away for a bathroom or food break, then put on music (no words, just instrumental) and hit the books again.
It worked- I passed everything and will get the PhD in June when I finish my clinical work.

The answer is DISCIPLINE. The younger you develop it, the better. If you don't get a handle on the internet/academics problem, it will spill over into other areas of your life and cause some other problems for you after school when you go into the workplace. You will not be disciplined about you time management, finishing projects on time, coming to work on time, etc. I hope you get my point.....

Try the old "elastic band" technique. Whenever you catch yourself going onto the internet give yourself a snap. Conversely when you realize you've had a good day with minimal internet use, give yourself some other reward.
