x - 5 = 32
x + 5 - 5 = 32 + 5 (If you add 5 to one side, then you need to add 5 to the other side)
x = 37

Well Algebra can be a bit frustrating. Let me try to help you. You have an equation:
x - 5 = 32
The key here is there is an equal sign. That means what's on the left side equals what's on the right side. So whatever x minus 5 is it equals 32. Let me give you an example so you understand this. Let's say you and your friend both have 5 bucks. You can say that
You $5 = Friend $5.
Now if I came around and gave only you 1 dollar then we'd add $1 to You but not your friend. Now does
You $6 = Friend $5?
No. Because I only added $1 to one side of this equation. Now if I gave you AND your friend $1 then we could add $1 to BOTH you AND your friend. Now does
You $6 = Friend $6?
Yes. This is because whatever we do to one side of the equal sign we have to do to the other side, otherwise we're changing the equation. So let's get back to your problem.
x - 5 = 32
Notice we have a letter here, called a variable. Whenever we're solving for a variable we need to get it on one side of the equal sign by itself. Meaning x = something. So let's see what's on the same side of the equal sign as x? A -5. This means that x is getting 5 taken away from it. In order to get rid of this, we have to do the opposite to cancel it out. You seemed to get this part. We add 5. But like we just learned what you do to one side you have to do to the other. So
x - 5 (+5) = 32 (+5)
-5 plus 5 = 0 AND 32 plus 5 = 37.
So on the left side we're only left with x + 0 or x and the right side we're left with 37. So we're left with...
x = 37
Let's think about this. If we plug in 37 for x (since we're saying x = 37) We get 37 - 5 = 32. Is that right? Of course it is.
I hope this makes sense to you. Send me an email if you need more help. Chaney34@yahoo.com

This is how to do the problem.
x - 5 = 32 They're trying to get x by itself on the left, so they add 5 to each side of the equation.
x - 5 + 5 = 32 + 5 If you take away 5 from x and then add on 5, you're back to x. (because - 5 + 5 is zero)
x = 32 + 5
x = 37

Since x - 5 = 32, it follows that x = 37.
If we want to know x + 5 - 5, then all we have to do is plug in x = 37.
37 + 5 - 5 = 37

I'm guessing you would solve for x in the first equation first. All you would have to do is add 5 to both sides and end up with x= the answer. Then you would just plug this into the second equation for x, add 5 and subtract 5 (this will give you 0, so you don't even need to look at it, because it will just be x) to solve the equation.

ok we know the value of x by adding the 5 to the = 32 which is 37 which gives us the value of x
part two when we have two opposing values one positive and one negative of equal value the two cancel each other out giving a value of 0
so +5 -5= 0
and this leads to x+0= 37
hope this helps

you've got this backwards.
1) x-5 = 32 the two things have the same value, they are equal
2) x-5 + 5 = 32 + 5
3) x = 37

x-5=32
You can move any term from one side of the equal sign to the other as long as you CHANGE IT'S SIGN.
So just move the -5 over to the other side and get:
x = 32 +5 [Do you see we changed it's sign from - to +?]
So x= 37
