You'll need to use glue and a clamp. The putty will only come off and mix into whatever you place on the board. It will hide the problem but not fix it. Glue and clamp and you're all set.

well yhats hard without seing it but they have would putty in diff. colores at home depot or lowes also elmers wood glue can work i would ask a good worker at one of the above places . also depends on if there is a lot of straien then u may hv to clamp it together untill dry good lk

Depends on how big the crack is. If it's small use putty, if it' s big a good carpenter's glue and clamp will do.
