My doctor will induce me on the 20th, and I feel that it should be sooner...what do you think?

I'm due tomorrow and my doctor told me that if I don't go into labor naturally that she will induce by next weekend. I happen to have a doctor who doesn't like to wait more than a week to induce. I really do hope this baby comes out naturally though. Good luck!

My daughter was 8 days late but she came out just fine. I had to be induced but my water broke on its own. Being induced is NOT FUN! It is a bit more painful and you might need pain relief sooner than a natural birth. When I was pregnant with my second child I took a walk everyday in the mall...a vigorous walk mind you like up and down stairs as painful as that may be for swollen feet! I started walking three days before I was due and that made me go into labor on my own.

With my first child, I was 10 days late and not even dilated to a 1 when my doctor finally agreed to induce me.
I found out later (after 24+ hours of pitocin agony) that my hips weren't aligned, so the baby never dropped/engaged - hence no "natural" pressure to dilate.
See a chiropractor that specializes in pregnancy & he can probably help you along much faster than any medication.

Babies come when they are darn good and ready to come. Since they haven't read any of the info that's out there about how to calculate due dates and so forth, they don't care a whack about what their doctor, mother, etc. say about when they should be born.

When my daughter was born, my calculated due date came and went. Finally on Friday December 4th, my doctor told me that if I wasn't in labor by Monday, he was going to induce me.

Boy was I depressed. I asked him what the odds were of giving birth naturally vs. being induced. He told me that he'd given up making predictions about that: women he'd thought were days away from labor had given birth the same afternoon he'd told them they were days away, and women he'd thought were ready to start any minute went two weeks and had to be induced. Babies come when they come.

FWIW, I started labor the next day, and my daughter was born the day after that.

Also FWIW...I know several people who swear by going for a long walk in beach sand as being a near-guaranteed labor-inducer. If you have a beach near you, you might give it a try.

Good luck!

It's only one day past your due date. As long as your baby isn't getting too big, most doctors will wait. The chance that you would actually deliver on your due date is very small. You've made it his far and chances are you'll go into labor very soon. You'll be a mom before you know it. Good luck to you and your baby.

Yes personally I am not comfortable with going too far overdue. The placenta starts to decline in function and can be unhealthy for the baby. However if you trust your Dr you should be fine. I know mydoctor would require NSTs and additional ultrasounds when you go overdue. To check how thebaby is doing and to be sure there is and adequetelevel of amniotic fluid.

I hope it happens soon for you...waiting is hard.!

The due date is a rough estimation based on your last menstrual period but most babies are not born on their due dates. Try doing squats hold the squat and lean forward a little then push down after the pressure builds. Best of luck.

Relax...try to be patient...(I know, it's so impossible!!)
Often doctors won't induce until you're a full 2 weeks late.
Sounds like you're lucky!! (And you may go into labour naturally before then anyways)
Good luck and congratulations!

Sometimes they are just plain wrong in calculating the due date. It's seems cruel but it happens. Try to remember that the healthiest thing for your baby is to be there until it's fully ready.

No, they'd much rather you go into labor naturally.
and, in case the ETA on the date of conception was off.
Normally they give you an extra 2 weeks.

But, if you'd like to kick start labor.
My doc always said SEX, HOT SHOWERS and WALKING!!!
