Whenever Person A says something offensive, and Person B reacts, Person A whines about "political correctness" and his/her free speech being "stifled". However, Person A forgets the fact that they already said what they said and Person B has every right to respond. No one stifled Person A's free speech! Why do people forget that there's no such thing as a free lunch and you should think before you speak or accept the consequences of what you say.

As I've said many times. Freedom of speech goes both ways.

Whether it is Mel Gibson's drunken ramblings or The Dixie Chicks anti-Bush statements, we have a right to say what we think & even exercise our rights to not buy any DIxie Chick's CDs or to never go to another Mel Gibson movie. That is not me denying their freedom of speech. That would be my exercising MY rights!

Because, in all actuality, the amendment specifically says CONGRESS cannot make laws abridging speech, it doesn't say that someone, who is not congress can't. So, granted, I may have the right to say "[CENSORED] [CENSORED] my [CENSORED] CENSORED] [CENSORED]", it doesn't mean that my job can't fire me for saying in, yahoo can't close my account for saying, or you can't knock the crap out of me for saying it.

Good point. Too many people equate "freedom" or "rights" with "no responsibility".
