Does University of Florida have a good law school? For undergrads, wouldn't that be pre-law school? At least, that was the term they used in the Career Placement test thing we took today. I wanted to be a lawyer (I'm not sure what kind, exactly, I'm leaning toward a prosecuting attorney or corporate lawyer...but people say you don't really choose until you've been exposed to the different types of law), and the test said that might be what I'm good at, and then it gave me a list of colleges that they suggest attending, but UF wasn't on there. I've heard from teachers and family that it does have a good law school, even though it specializes in medicine, and it was a college I was interested in, since pursuing Harvard Law School seems to be shooting a little too high. Anyway, if you have any information, I would appreciate you sharing it!

You are confused. In the U.S., if you want to be a lawyer of any kind, you need to get a bachelor's degree and THEN go to law school, which is always a post-graduate program. You can get a pre-law degree before going on to law school (there is no such thing as pre-law school), or you can get an undergraduate degree in anything else which interests you - what law schools want to see is that you did a lot of reading and writing in your undergraduate program, since those are the skills you will need for law school too. The University of Florida DOES have a good law school, but as with any other law school in the U.S., it is only open to those who already have completed their bachelor's degrees. It is NOT the case that their law school "specializes" in medicine - most law schools don't specialize in any area of the law, but offer a broad range of programs, and the University of Florida is one of these. The University ALSO has a medical school, but that has nothing to do with the law school.

your Career Placement test was right about choosing a type after you've been exposed. FSU Law is somewhat of a smaller law school, but mostly b/c of it's location in Tallahassee, which is out of the normal range of touristy, warm Florida. There are Web resources which can tell you the exact rating of that school as compared to all other law schools in the country. There are also ref books at the library which go into more specific detail about individual law schools w/o trying to sell you on one particular school. Hope that helps :)
