There are 2 of them that we sell that we cannot cancel. And even if it wasn't our fault that they were messed up, we have to buy them, if we can't sell them by the end of out shift.

Some people change their mind after they are printed,so we are stuck with them.Doesn't seem right to me. Is it right to have to be forced to buy them? And sometimes we don't even bring money to work with us.

i do ask what they want, and some get mad if i repeat it to them. and some, after i repeat them, they agree, i print, then they change their minds. then i have to buy it unless i can sell it.

one lady was going to have to buy tickets, after the customer told her she wanted all the tickets to be the same. after the lady looked at her tickets she said that her co-workers wouldn't want the same tickets.

That doesn't sound right at all. I would contact the local Labor Board to find out if they can legally do that.

No, that is not right. It might also be illegal. I am not sure, but I think there may be something about selling yourself lottery tickets or even buying them if you are an employee of the store. I would go to lotto.com or look up a site of the tickets you are forced to buy & look into the laws surrounding this subject. Even if it is not illegal, it is not ethical to force employees to purchase things a customer decides they don't want, this burden should fall on the owner and you can maybe persue some legal action against him from L&I (Labor & Industries) I would simply refuse to purchase them & see what happens. Good luck

No it isn't legal nor ethical. Contact the lottery officials for your state, tell them about your employers business practices. They will probably threaten your employer to comply with lottery rules or lose the ability to sell the tickets.

And I'm sure that he is violating other rules by having you attempt to sell a pre printed ticket. By having the machine in his place of business and selling the tickets he is required to abide by the state laws regarding lottery sales.

Good luck, I'm sure the lottery state officials will be happy to assist you in this matter. If they don't contact the state attorney's office.

Get the money from the person before you print up their tickets. When I go in to the store I hand over the card and the money at the same time. If the person asks for a quick pick, ask how much they want and get them to hand you the money. No money no printing of ticket.
I wouldn't think that it is right to make you buy them, but then, does it happen often? Maybe your boss is tired of so many mistakes. Talk to him/her about it and how to avoid the mistakes.

Your employer is breaking the law, make an anonymous phone call to the lottery commission and your states wage and hour division of the labor department.

It seems unlikely - you should check with the lottery administration. I would think your employer is supposed to pay for those, not you. However, you may have signed an employment contract that covers this.

Only if it was part of your agreement with management when you took the job. Otherwise, it's considered a forced purchase, and the law really frowns on that.
