Hi Mahal -

having been in the military for many years, I can empathize with you. If you are not a working wife, I would suggest that you find a worthwhile charity to volunteer with. Perhaps at a Veteran;'s Hospital or military hospital if there is one in your area or any hospital for that matter. Also, how bout going to a nursing home or a convalescent care facility and visit with the elderly. Perhaps work in an elementary school Try and turn this longing for your soul mate into something positive and I think you will see the time fly by quickly.

God Bless you and your Husband. I hope that He will keep you both safe, happy and well.

Stay busy. No lie...sometimes it can really help.

If you like his family OK, keep in contact with them--sometimes, the things you love about a mate are in his family as well. Write, email, exchange pictures...it might be comforting for you and them. Talk to his friends or other military spouses, too.

It's OK if you get busy doing other things and don't think about him every waking moment. You'll go crazy if you focus only on him. There's nothing wrong with continuing life without him so that you're doing alright when he gets back. Sometimes it seems like a betrayal to move on to other things when somebody's gone, but find things to fill the time and keep you from thinking about what you're missing. Brooding is not a good idea.

Think about him when it's natural...and do other things when it's natural. You won't stop missing him, so write him, call him, send him packages if you can. If communication is limited, keep a journal or scrapbook about what's going on while he's gone, maybe write him letters for when you see him again. It's good to keep a record of the time you're apart so he'll see it when he gets back. That way, he can feel involved in your life even though he wasn't there.

Let him know you miss him, and it upsets you to be apart, but if you don't want to bum him out, keep it in a journal until he can get back and read it. But find a way to be apart, because it's just how things are right now, and you don't want to make him feel guilty or whatever. Be romantic and supportive and he'll really appreciate it.

I know how it feels, I have been a military wife for 17 years now (God that long!!). I remember when we first we together and he went away, it was hard. I found going out with friends helped, I also started working out so when he would come home, he was like WOW! Write your feelings in a journal, I did that and still look at them from time to time. I would like to say it gets easier, but in a way it does and sometimes no. Then you have kids, they miss their Dad so you put on a brave face.........
You will learn what works best to make you feel better. When it gets to you don't care, then you have something to worry about. I still miss my hubbie when he goes away. He is actually in training for the next six months and then he is off to overseas for 7 months. So I am in the same boat as you, just keep thinking how great things will be when he comes home, he is missing you just as much. Cheers

My husband just got home this summer. I missed him so much that my soul hurt. I hated doing the things that he used to do like the finances and car care. He missed us more than we missed him because he was in a strange place while we were in our home. One of the biggest things that eased the seperation were the use of email and the amount of times he was able to call. We kept our sex life alive by writing juicy paragraphs and poems. That was fun. I ultimately enjoyed my new foun freedom with the finances and had the oportunity to buy a new car all on my own. Good luck!

I just got mine back after his 16 month deployment to Iraq, this was his second deployment in 3 years not to mention another 7 months in between that time he was gone for training. Keep yourself busy. That is the best thing you can do. Keep active...exercise...get out of the house...if you work that will be a big help. Take up home time with books or movies. The main thing is to keep your mind occupied. Good luck and God bless!

I'm sorry. It must be tough for the both of you. Keep in communication with him as much as possible. Send home goods to him when you can. He's doing this for his country and is a brave person because of it. I pray that he comes back safely after his tour.
Try distract yourself and spend more time with friends and family, best still find others who are going through the same thing, they often offer the best support and advice.

of course, stay busy.. but also, it isn't too bad to have some YOU time.. find a hobby that makes you happy.. spend some time getting to know your friends better and become more involved in their lives to let them know that you appreciate them.. do some volunteer work too if you want. making others smile will make you smile no matter what your circumstance.. also when it's getting closer to when he's coming home, start planning all the little things you're gonna do for him (although I do realize that went without saying) =D.. I find when you miss someone planning all their favorite things to do makes you smile and happy..

My heart is with you... I know how hard it is to be away from the one you love. You're going to have to get busy - find a yoga class, take up a hobby... visit with friends. Write a journal to him for him to read every day. I think the hardest thing for military men and women is to think that their spouse or loved one is miserable. It is something you can't change.... and I think they want to know that you DO miss them, but that you are doing okay. They have enough to worry about without thinking that you are pining away, miserable and lonely. Talk to him when you can, email him, write him nice long letters he can carry with him. Be positive and sweet... and let him know that you are looking forward to seeing him again soon!!!

You should get out and join a gym and be in the sun or buy some tanning sessions at your local salon. That is what I do when my hubby is gone and it helps me get out of the house and I feel so much better! Oh and eat out with a friend once or twice a month and see a movie...that is the best! Go shopping and buy the perfect lingerie for him in his favorite color and style so you can knock his socks off when he gets back!

1. I am sure the both of you talked about this sometime before he left? If not-well...that is how marriages end in divorce.
2. Are the both of you open minded? If the both of you discussed this before he left-you and he would not have any problems knowing what the other expected out of you.
3. try to be around friends.
4. stay busy and get a part time job or voulenteer somewhere.
how long has you been married to him? I am not saying that this WILL happen-I am just saying it MAY happen. 8 months in a long time. He may find another woman in this time period. Buff up that heart of yours. When he gets back in Sep-he may be a new man-with a new girl. But don't act funny toward his either.
