I think he'll make a bigger fan base of it. I don't necessarily think it'll be on the same level as in Scotland, but more people will definitely pay attention. See, the one thing that sets the MLS apart from other leagues such as the EPL, or La Liga is that soccer is bred through the generations. Soccer doesn't go as deep as other sports like football and basketball here in the US. So, you aren't going to see loyal fans like those in Europe, or in Scotland, to be more specific. It's a whole different situation with different circumstances here in the US and so it's going to require different things than other countries to get people to notice what's going on here.

I think David Beckham will give the MLS more visablity in the American sports market. He finally represents a face to sell the sport. He may do well personally in the American soccer league, but time will only tell if it will a) sell tickets and fill stadiums, b) generate enough fan interest to rival that of the major money sports, and ultimately c) generate enough money to persue better international talent to make the elvate the quality of play.

I think its a joke. Americans won't care anyways. And the small base of American soccer fans know that he is a washed-up glory-hound. All I see this doing is financially crippling what was becoming a good league and was starting to produce some real quality players.

He was a good premier league player as long as he played in UK!
The day he came to Madrid, the truth became obvious : he was one step beyond the rest !
How can he be compared to Zidane, Raul, Van Nistelrooy ?
And now, Higuain as arrived !!...time to follow Posh to Hollywood !
