around the age of 2. My son used to favor his left hand though since the time he was VERY young- 2/3 months. And he's a lefty. He used his left hand for EVERYTHING. He's now in preschool and his teacher said "yup, he's definitely a lefty". Not a big deal though (my in-laws made THE BIGGEST deal with our first son telling us to "make sure you change that. MAKE him use his right")
It's not a big deal! Since he's just 4.5 years old, and learning to write (me and hubby are righty's) we sit across the table from him and we write upside down and backwards. It's much easier then trying to write with our left hand :o)
Other son is a righty and 2 year old- not sure. We think a righty, but she does things with her left too. Ambidextrous maybe!!! :o)
Don't worry though. I know several people that are lefty's and I still love them :o) They happen to also have very beautiful hand-writing too.

My son is three now and we are still unsure if he is left or right handed. He is still using both hands. I have started to notice in the last couple of days he is starting to use more of his left hand.

My daughter is 2 and she uses both hands. It's hard to tell this early, just be happy they are using their hands and not their feet.

if they tend to pick a certain hand over another when picking up objects. Sometimes you can detect it early on and sometimes you'll just have to wait til they're about 2 or 3
