but when i preview it it says something about a codec. Will the video not work, stop downloading it now?

Or does it work once it's done downloading?

if its a avi file it probably wont work, you will have to download divix player to play these files and you wont be able to view till the are finished downloading them (you can find and download Divix from searching the net)

It might not work if you dont have the proper codec for it. You have to be careful on where you are going to get the codec from. If you try and play it with Windows Media Player it will give you an error number and a link on which you can go and read to see if the codec is supported by them or not. It might also be a divx codec. But once you get the codecthe video will work with no problem.

A codec is the translation tool for the video format. You cannot view the video file without the proper codec. Go to the site for whatever media player you use and see if they have the right codec for you.

I once downloaded a video from limewire and it said the same thing to me. When it was through downloading it worked.

you'll probably have to download some other program and use instead of windows media players. try DivX. it usually works for almost all formats.
what type is the video?

that's easy just go to divx.com and downlaod divx player open divx player and drag the video that your downloading into the divx player and you will see it. and when the video is done you don't have to drag it anymore just play it.
