Hmm... American freedom great?...Depends on if you're the one living in the big house, with the big car, making the big bonuses, sending your children to private school and tennis camps ..or the one living out of your car, working 2 minimum wage jobs, hoping you don't get sick since you have children who depend on you for food...

I am not sure if you're being facetious or not. I don't think that the US is spreading the "ideals of freedom". I am glad to live in Canada where we are free to criticise our government or politicians without receiving death threats (Dixie Chicks anyone?) and I am free to get basic health care no matter how much I earn. Some people think they are more free in Europe, where they have more vacations and a balanced view of life. In the US you are free to be a capitalist, if you make money you are free, otherwise you are a slave to the ones who do.

No - why would you think that the American version of the ideal of freedom will work for everyone? Isn't is against the idea of freedom to impose one's ideology to people that don't believe it? Would you accept an Englishman's ideal of freedom - which is different than ours? Perhaps the French idea of freedom, which is more left leaning, be more acceptable? I think that the people should be "Free" to choose their own form of government that works for the people that it will govern.

I agree with Lance; but at the same time I think it's arrogant to presume that any country has the right to tell another country what is best for it. Kinda reminds me of when my mother would just say" Cause I' m the Mom thats why", and left no room for debate. I think that we need to look at the founding beliefs that started our country: the need to abolish tyranny...who is the tyrannist now? Hummm, I wonder...only history will be the judge.
