well the deal is that i really want to go to winter formal but i dont know who to take and i dont want to go alone im new at this school and i dont know many people ive never been to formal and i really really want to go i have to buy my ticket tomorrow but im still not sure what to do...any help thanks

How far away are you from your old friends? Maybe one of them could go with you. I would hate to say buy the tickets and then you not find someone to go with you if they are expensive, as I am sure they are. Do you have a (no this is not weird) female friend who also does not have an escort? You could go together as they used to say "stag." You would be suprised how many guys will be there without dates. Or for that matter how many break ups happen at a formal. Just some ideas I thought might help. Alda
Another thought: You could ask to help at the door with the formal. Your ticket would be less and it would not look "odd" that you did not have a guy with you. You would only have to work a little of the beginning and then you would be able to mingle. Your younger years are sooo precious, don't blow an opportunity because you feel odd. Some of my best memories is when I, as my dad put it, "did things just a little off center of the bullseye." You know, outside the norm.
