It's a virus that is being sent through e-mail. Download Windows Defender and see if that will detect and remove it.
Fortunately it is a relatively harmless virus..

I keep informed of computer security and malware issues and this so-called "Yay-Virus" seems to be very new and spreading very rapidly in the past couple days.
There is always a delay between the time that a new malware is introduced and the time that the anti-virus and anti-spyware vendors find a cure and download it to there customers.
This delay can range from anywhere from a few hours to a week or more.
At this point it seems all you can do is keep your security apps updated and wait for the "fix". It will come in time.

I have to agree with jibbarjabar. I had a look at a HijackThis log from someone with this infection and I couldn't see any malware in the log.
They also ran a few of the scanners I would have recommended and they showed nothing.
If anyone who is infected with the "yay pop-ups" can point me to the site they got infected from or send me the attachment (if it was e-mail) or the file that you are shutting down in task manager to stop the pop-up, I will distribute the file to all the AV vendors so they could make definitions for it.
Send the file to: malwaremedic (at) yahoo (dot) com

There are no longer any confusing and speedy policies in English for employing Latin plurals with Latin words, fantastically as quickly as the word has exchange into assimilated. as an occasion, many human beings say "cactuses" rather of "cacti" and that i've got on no account heard anybody say "fora" for "boards" or "stadii" (initially Greek stadioi) for "stadiums." that's because of the fact all 3 of those words - cactus, talk board, stadium - have been tremendously plenty assimilated into the English language and are in recent times considered mainstream English words. on the different hand, a word like "literatus" - a member of the literary intelligentsia of a rustic - nonetheless takes its unique Latin plural type "literati" because of the fact that's greater of a scholarly, academic sort word, no longer a word you will hear the hassle-free guy employing. those are with regard to the only styles of Latin words in English which constantly maintain their unique Latin plural types.

check for spyware or malware instead of viruses, sounds like the spyware that my bro picked up on his three thousand dollar pc, he ended up bashing it and the running over it with his truck and buying a new computer

If none of the free scanners work, I have had excellent results using XoftspySE. I use this scanner on all of my home computers and it seems to keep them clean and fast.
You can download a free scan at this website:

Good luck!
