I am going to the school dance, but I need a new formal dress. Is there anywhere that I could get a nice dress with a price not over $40?? Im sorry about the low price, but my mom wouldn't let me buy a dress, even if it was with my own money, if it was so expensive, because its just a school dance. But I have a date, of course, and I want to look adequate. Anywhere I can buy a dress? and please no online or ebay. Just a local store or mall, a store like marshalls maybe with cheap dresses.

Kohl's has some pretty dresses. So does TJ Maxx, Wet Seal, and especially Forever 21. Any of those places will have inexpensive, cute formal dresses.

Marshalls doesnt have a wide selection of dresses. I would definately suggest thrift stores in your area if you are on a tight budget, you are bound to find something! Try the local Goodwill or Salvation Army, just be prepared to do a bit of hunting for that gem if you are really picky. Also, there are lots of juniors stores out there (Mandees, Rainbow, etc) that sell cheap dresses. Since I dont know where you live, only you would know where the local stores and malls are! Just browse the sale racks, now is the time to pick up that bargain find.

Check Deb, Marshall's, or TJ Maxx. Also, check any local stores you have that might have deals on stuff (example: we have one here that sells stuff for 70% off the retail price. I have a few formal gowns that I've gotten there for really cheap. You have to check around).
Check the regular department stores, too. J.C. Penney, for examply, has a LOT of stuff like that on clearance right now. Go to the mall and check around. $55 is plenty if you are willing to really shop around -- make it into a treasure hunt and have fun with it! That's what I do...

I know you said no on-line stores but if there is any way possible (may at a friend's place) go to 15dollarstore.com. They have really cute, brand-named items - dresses, skirts, blouses, pants, jeans, shoes, handbags - just about everything you would want for an outfit.
I was checking out their dresses and they have some that would be perfect for a Valentine's Day dance AND all of them were $15.
Like I said before, if there is any way possible to access this site, by all means do so. It seems to be just the "ticket" for you.

deb has nice dresses that aren't too expensive. but if you really want a steal, try a local goodwill store or salvation army store. you can find some gorgeous dresses there, like a prom dress worn once or a simple cocktail dress. the best part is that people donate things all the time so the selection changes.

the body shopk, forever 21, and wet seal have a lot of really cute dresses that are pretty cheap. also charlotte russe. i found a dress there that was ten bucks and it was so cute! not too dressy but just right for a dance. you can find all of those shops in a good sized mall. hope you can find one! good luck!
