I think this move of Beckham coming to the US to play soccer is a complete joke I want Ronaldino not some washed up player....I equate this move to Michael Jordan going to Italy after after playing for Washington ...what a joke...I think this does nothing to improve the quality of play in MLS soccer

34 years old... and he signed a 5 year contract right or wrong? so hes gonna play until hes 39? thats ridiculous, Most players are done by the time they hit 34-36 years of age, They're goin to expect a lot from Beckham in the MLS and aren't going to get what they want since hes a MidFielder not a striker, Im a Real Madrid fan and i respect Beckham but i agree that hes a washup or a soon to be wash up, he got enough money... just retire

He still is a good player and Real Madrid has not taken advantage of the player they got in 2003. He needs to move on to a different league and get a new challenge. HE will be the best player to play in the MLS so he cant be washed up if other teams from all over the world wanted him. Was Pele at 35 yrs. old washed up when he came to America? No he wasn't because clubs all over the world still wanted him!!!!!

I came here looking for this perticular question...

I thought it was pretty crazy... I mean he played for Real Madrid, and now he's going to a country where no one cares.

You can view this video, it will explain the reason of his actions. In fact, the most popular sport among kids in America is soccer, unlike what some believe. The problem is that the pro league is not very well developed. So Beckham might actually help the situation. However, I don't think his skills will improve, the level of the game is likely to be low compared to what he is used to be playing.

yeah i agree, beckham is only playing inthe mls because european leagues are too hard. I think a younger star would be a lot better for the mls, but beckham is already popular in the u.s. so he will sell more tickets in the short run than a younger unpopular soccer super star

David Beckham is great value marketing wise, he may be recognized for his looks. Though in terms of his playing skills, we've seen him in better form. Eventually because of that the new audience that will be attracted to MLS would not be football fans.

Two reasons why he came to MLS :
1- He couldn't match the rest of the team's skills (Now Higuain has come, time to run !)
2-Posh didn't like her life in Spain, she wanted to move or would have divorced soon !

Yeah, I think he's washed up. He's putting his penis in Posh Spice after all.... But boning Poshy aside, he's nothing but an average soccer player to me. Nothing special.
