Mai gives $15.15 to Jhon for a combination of baseball and football cards.Baseball cards are $1.50 Football are .50cents. How much money did Mai give for baseball cards?

There must be a answer because it was multiple choice i just forgot what the multiple choice aswers were.

I think you might have to set up a porportion if you could please show your work to me.

imlost has the correct setup for this problem:

15.15 = 1.50x + 0.50y.

There are two issues with this problem which make it impossible to answer: first, no multiple of 50 cents will ever produce 15 cents. Second, there are many unique solutions possible because 1.50 is a multiple of 0.50, so any value for x can be substituted with 3y.
