Do you mean what DOES art mean? Because what IS the art mean sounds like you are asking "what is the art average?"... To which, I have no idea how to respond.

Due to the expansion this word has had in recent years its hard to explain. Moder Art has given it a new meaning and constantly people broaden its meaning.
So it would be like asking
