I have a cub cadet 7275 small tractor. When I use the PTO it makes a rachet sound and slips. It sounds like the gears are not engaging good. I hope there is an adjustment I can make without major repair. If you have an idea I would really appreciate it.

It sounds like a simple adjustment. You should be able to purchase a repair manual for your tractor.

When you engage the PTO, what is your throttle set at? Your throttle should be low when you engage it, then throttle it up once engaged. It is common for PTO's to slip, squeal, etc if they are engaged when it is throttle up. You should also throttle down before disengaging it as well.
