I'm taking this college prep class and we're starting research papers in two weeks. He says not to pick easy topics like athletes' salaries, death penalty, evolution/creationism, teens & drugs, etc. I was thinking about the harmful effects of overpopulation in Asia but I'm not sure if it's the kind of topic my teacher will approve of. Do you guys have anything I can write about?

How about arguing that people ought to have to pass a class and take a test in order to get a license to have children? You could discuss parents who don't have a job or money to support a child but have several anyway, parents who are repeat drug abusers who have a child anyway, etc. OR, you could argue that women who abuse drugs should have their tubes tied.
