I work in a small place of 20 people. We have been asked to contribute £5 each. I don't want to as i don't like him, but i don't want to be seen as odd/tight for not not doing so.

What would you do?

Just tell the person organising the collection that you dont like him and don't want to contribute. If others feel the same way then perhaps the crappy present he ends up receiving will send him the message loud and clear.

You wouldn't buy a present for someone you didn't like so don't feel pressurised into doing to here.

Give £5 to charity - or even better send it to me.

You have to consider whether the person would contribute to your birthday fund. Is there a definate reason you don't like him or just a general feeling? If he's done nothing wrong to you then I would contribute.

i wouldnt give anything i wouldnt sign the card, i have been in that situation a few times, too many to explain and i've let the person know what i thought of them.
if you dont like somebody theres no point pretending otherwise or them thinking your a friend.
