Some thoughts--many people find that they can get an infant to sleep in their arms...and then they transfer them to the crib. Then, a few minutes later you hear the child crying and wonder what is wrong. Little ones don't really have a sleep pattern until about 4 months of age....infants tend to wake up every hour or so. Its a little bit of a shock when you wake up some place strange and not where you fell asleep in the first place...or not around the parent. An infant scared will tend to grasp for something...if this is the case they are dreaming of falling. Also, baby's will pick up on the parent's anxiety and stress...making them cry louder and more. Sometimes just taking a step back for a minute to collect yourself and take a deep breath...or having that extra calm person there to hold the infant until things are calmed down, it can help.

I don't know why this happens, but my daughter did the same thing! It makes u wonder just what in the world a newborn has to be scared of...

It's possible maybe that it may be a flashback from her shocking entrance into the world.

No, my son had them. They call them "night terrors" at that age. Not much you can do. You can hold her and console her. Is there a night light in her room? We put a night light in my son's room and this seemed to help some.
Do a search for night terrors and see if you can find out any other tips. You might want to mention it to her doctor at her next checkup. Good luck.
