depends on where you are i guess, being a good swimmer wont help you much if you are stranded on a mountain, but i guess if you are in good shape and keep your head you should do fine in most situations.

Adaptation, flexibility, and positive thinking. When I say positive thinking, I don't mean walking around with a grin on your face and saying that it's going to be allright. I mean adopting a problem solving attitude, seeing situations as they are, and dealing with them in terms of how they are useful, and how they can be overcome if they aren't. Being flexible is necessary to survival, because life doesn't always follow your script. We have to be able to adjust our expectations and tolerances to allow for changes in plans. Being adaptable means to consider the environment and determine what is necessary to survive within it.
