A resume is not supposed to be a chronological accounting of your time. Its only submitted to spark the interest of the reader. So what?, there is a gap in your employment. That doesn't mean anything. What you are probably thinking about is the chronological listing of your previous addresses whenever some is about to do a background check on you. No gaps are allowed there because you might omit that prison term you did at sing sing. Get it?

Gap is bad it usually means the person was lazy or not worth hiring I know I am a Very Experienced Recruiter and a kind person. They need a cover for the resume, have a Friend to cover for them saying that they worked for them.

No other way.

Legally, you do not have to answer that. Me personally, I would just either refuse to answer the question or make something up. It is very easy for a parent to put blame on "taking care of the kids". But really, honesty is the best policy.

Good luck
