I am about to start community college, and am already thinking ahead about transferring out to a better school. When transferring out to a competitive college (such as UVA, or UBC), typically how many credits does one need to have to be taken seriously?

It's not the # of credits..it's ur GPA they will look at.. The higher ur GPA, the better. If u transfer in with 12 hours and a 1.0 ur chances aren't nearly as good if u have have 6 hours and a 4.0... GL

Since you have a particular college or two in mind to transfer to after the community college, the best thing is to speak to the transfer office to work out the best courses to take for your particular major. The minimum for a course to transfer is a C. Courses will transfer, but the important thing is to have them hit the checklist as a required course and not an elective course. However, stride for Bs (3.0) or more because some 4 year colleges have financial aid set aside for transfer students with a certain GPA. Good luck!
