Mom is taking me to a medical centre - for a Blood Test.

I'm feeling very scared - hate needles & blood.

What will happen ? How will the nurse do it ?

I want Mom to stay with me. Scared & don't want it. lol.

Giving blood isn't as bad as you think it is. It won't hurt. I have gotten alot of needles (I'm 27 yrs old) and there are times that I didn't even feel it because the nurse was so gentle.

I find something that hurts is if you don't watch. The nurse will put an elastic type thing around your arm..as soon as she does that, just look the other way. Your mom should be allowed to stay with you. Have a conversation with her about something completely off subject...it will take your mind off the needle.
Most importantly, just relax!

It will be over before you know it :) Good luck and stay strong!

The blood will probably be taken from the inside of your elbow. Try not to watch and be as relaxed as you can. It doesn't hurt very much - a little more than a mosquito bite. If the person drawing the blood is greatly experienced, it may hurt even less than that.
An elastic tube will be placed around your arm. After the needle is inserted, the tube will be released. All this will take place in a very short span of time.
After the blood is taken and the collection vial and needle removed, the person drawing the blood will put a piece of cotton over the blood draw site and put a band aid or perhaps a length of sticky strip over the cotton to keep it in place and to apply pressure. This is to prevent bleeding and bruising. Keep in on for about 10 minutes. Longer doesn't hurt anything.

Don't worry, the most it will hurt is like if you pinch yourself, and it is so quick that you probably won't even notice it. The nurse will take you into the room and you can either sit or lay down, and she will put a strap around your arm so she can see the vein , and then she will take the blood. It doesn't hurt enough for you to get all worried about, take it from me, I hate needles more than anything and I think normal immunizations hurt more than bloodtests! Your Mama can stay with you, I'm 20 and my Mama still holds my hand hehehe.

Don't stress, it will be fine!

Have your mom call up the medical centre where you're going to get your blood test done and ask them if they have ELMA Cream. If they don't have it, can they get some? And she'll need your Dr. to write a prescription for it and fax it to the centre.

What ELMA Cream does is to numb the area where you're having an injection or blood drawn. It has to be put on an hour before, but it numbs the area totally. You don't feel a thing.

I have an Autistic son that's phobic of needles. This is the only way to get necessary blood testing done when he needs it.

first the nurse will sit you in a chair. then they will wrap a loose band around your right forearm. Then they will apply alcohol wipe to kill bacteria and viruses on your skin. Then the nurse will use a needle to get blood. It doesn't hurt if you look away and think about something else. Do not look at the blood or when the nurse injects the needle into your arm (in short, do not look at the procedure, just look away, this helps). it feels like a small pinch in your arm and doesn't hurt.

It doesn't really hurt. Its just a pinch. I recently got a blood test too. Don't worry about it. The nurse will disinfect the area, stick a needle in, and then the bottle will suck out the blood. Just dont look at this part if you're scared.

Pain is mostly mental.

will you feel some pain from the needle? Yes

will you make it worse by being worried? For sure

The nurse is trainned to take blood. They do it all the time. Just know it wil take about two minute and it will be over and deal with it.!

It will be over soon just close your eyes and think about playing videogames in your head!

Your mom will be allowed to hold your hand. Just relax, it's just a pin-prick for a second and you'll barely feel it. In fact it only takes a few seconds to draw the blood. What I do is close my eyes, turn my head away, take a deep breath and slowly exhale while they stick me. Boom, then it's all over with.

Best wishes sweetie, it's no big deal and just remember it's for your health. :)

If it's just a simple blood test they may just prick you finger. However more often they need to draw blood, they will put a needle with a tube attached to it in your arm. This is so they can collect your blood. Hold your breath and exhale when they put the needle in. That helps.

I am a mother and I hate needles also. it is just a prick of the needle. I always ask to lay down while they do it. mom can hold your hand. mom will talk to you and it will be over in a few minutes.
