king asoka had been a mighty and brutal warrior. then he realized what he had done to the country and converted to bhuddism. he sent out missionaries to other countries and bhuddism alomast left the country it originated in!

Do you mean King Ashoka the Indian emperor ?

If so, I can only think it was unusual because of his strong Buddhist tendencies.
